The pleasure and pain (sometimes literally) of being an allotment holder.
A good friend suggested I start writing a blog as she’s been enjoying my Instagram allotment updates and is interested in how my plot has developed since I took it on. I started my allotment with a very basic understanding of how to grow vegetables, and although this is my second year as an allotment holder I still consider myself a novice, but I had, and still have, a real desire to ‘give it a go’ and learn the art and science of growing.
This blog will be mainly about my experience as a newbie allotment holder with the first few posts describing how I’ve got to where I am now. I hope to share with you my thoughts of how and why the plot is like it is, how it’s developing, my successes and failures, what it means to me to ‘grow from scratch’ and the occasional recipe I’ve used with the harvested pickings.
I hope you enjoy reading my musings and hope it helps or inspires you to have a go yourself no matter what size plot or pot you have.
